I'm a producer and camera operator with a love for all types of media. I've tried many roles in the past, including 1st AD, but my main passion is producing. I love the logistical side of production and watching all aspects of a project come together.
I studied Film Production at Salford Uni. Studying film wasn't my original plan. Believe it or not, my plan was to study biology or history. But after taking media studies at A-Level, I realised that giving people a world to escape to and addressing important topics creatively was (and still is) so appealing to me, and I decided that was what I wanted to do with my life.
I've also worked a lot in social media, working with influencers and brands to create engaging and appealing content, and managing several social media accounts. With this form of content becoming more popular, it’s been interesting to see the difference between social media production and regular productions. It's a fun way to meet and engage with people from all around the world and provides a whole set of new challenges that come with short forms of content, rather than the longer projects that I am used to.
Moving to Manchester from Cardiff back in 2018 was terrifying, but I quickly fell in love with the city and the people in it. Just like my journey to media, I never planned on moving up North. I had never been further than Birmingham before going to university, but I'm glad I did. Everyone has been so welcoming and kind (apart from the occasional Welsh joke and hard to understand accent/colloquialism), and I cannot think of a better place to live.
I started working with the Badger and Combes team in October 2019 and was thrown straight into a very long day at the Greenpower International Final at the Silverstone Circuit. I had never worked on a professional set before, so it was a very new experience, but I enjoyed it so much that I'm still here over a year later! Since then, I have worked on projects such as RTS events, Sale Sharks rugby, and United We Stream, working as a production assistant, camera assistant, and, more recently, a camera operator.
What I love about the Badger's is that they are always happy to show and answer any questions equipment and are excited to do so. As someone who has only started camera operating frequently over the past five months, they have taken their time to make sure that I am happy and comfortable with what I am doing and have helped my confidence grow massively. No question is a stupid one, which as someone who asks a lot of potentially stupid questions, is something I'm pleased about. I also love that we're not confined to one role, allowing us to explore and learn about positions that we may not be familiar with.
I can't speak highly enough of how much working with this team means to me and I always and will always wear my Badger hoodie with pride.
