Edit, Script writing, Production coordination, Directing and Live OB’s. Those are my passions.
I'm always learning on the job and using every opportunity to be thrown into new and exciting projects. Directing for United We Stream has been a recent highlight and I love using the vision mixer.
I love working as part of a wider team where I'm challenged with new technical roles and responsibilities.
I moved to Manchester to be closer to MediaCityUK. I’m from London but I could see and (when I first visited) I felt that there was something exciting happening here in Salford. I believe it’s critical to watch how the industry moves towards innovation and adapts to thrive in growing areas.
This is why I love Badger and Combes, because everyone believes in this ethos – that the world is changing and creatively we are in positions we’ve never had before and this gives us the potential to challenge ourselves, our crafts and discover new ways to resonate with viewers through media. In doing so, you don’t only use but utilise and capitalise on digital capabilities to tell stories, you have the chance to change lives, make lasting memories, connections, better mental health and wellbeing through genuine client to user communication and the excitement that brings the user.
This worked really well with United We Stream, we were finding new ways for people stuck at home – people who are sociable, creative, responsive, who like a dance or a laugh on a Friday night – the chance to still have that experience of connecting with people, with the musicians, with the venue. It looped each person into a story and a feeling of doing something when everything else felt so helpless and unpredictable.
I have more of a Drama background, I love writing and directing and finding ways to connect with an audience through emotions and experiences; conveyed through character actions, emotions, situations and words. I believe a good digital media leader is someone who cares about those connections between either the speaker or character and the person at home watching, who not only pushes to engage and help the viewer feel represented but is actively looking for new and better ways to continue doing so and pushes to get those new ways to the centre stage and harnessed by many.
